Welcome to Cedar Crest Day Care Center. Our Day Care Center (referred to as the “Center” in this handbook) is a Christian Center owned and operated by Cedar Crest Baptist Church. Our Center is licensed as a Type 1 Early Learning Center by the Department of Education of the State of Louisiana. We are also inspected and approved for operation by the Fire Marshall’s Office and the Office of Public Health of the State of Louisiana. Day-to-day operation of the Center is under the guidance of an approved Director that meets the qualifications established by the State of Louisiana.
Our education philosophy is based on the belief that early Christian education provides an essential part of the development and growth of young children. Therefore, it is our purpose to honor God by providing quality care in a loving and safe environment where children can develop spiritually as they grow emotionally, physically, socially and cognitively.
To enroll at Cedar Crest Day Care Center, an interested parent/guardian should contact the Center to discuss the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Center. The parent/guardian will be given a tour of the Center and discuss any issues with the Director. At this time, the parent/guardian will receive a copy of this handbook and all required enrollment forms. The enrollment forms must be completed and returned before an enrollment date can be set for your child. The Center does not discriminate in its enrollment based on race, religion, sex, disability or ethnicity.
The Cedar Crest Day Care Center is open Monday thru Friday from 7AM to 5:30PM. The Center may close during the week due to inclement weather or power outages that are beyond our control.
The Center will close for the following holiday during the year: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Columbus Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day (and the Friday after), Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after and New Year’s Eve. If the holiday falls on a weekend, we will observe the holiday on the Monday after.
Tuition fee for the Center is $140 per week for 1 child and $135 per week per child for 2 or more children. An initial $35 registration fee and an annual $100 Montessori fee/supply fee is also required. Fees may be paid on a weekly or monthly basis. Weekly fees are due on Monday of each week and monthly fees are due by the 5th of each month. If you keep your child at home for any reason, illness or vacation, fees will still be required on time and paid in full.
Our curriculum is individualized according to your child’s age and classroom placement. Our curriculum is designed to take an active approach to learning through the use of Montessori methods combined with developmentally appropriate learning experiences that have proven very successful in enabling our children to not only be the best educated but also be the best prepared for the school system.
Each member of our staff is qualified and competent to care for your child, according to your child’s needs. All staff members must pass a Child Care Criminal Background Check, complete orientation training and annual continuing education training. Members of our staff are also trained in pediatric CPR, general first aid, and medication administration.
